Dubai’s electronic toll gate operator Salik has announced adjustments to its pricing for the holy month of Ramadan. The changes, set to take effect in line with the Ramadan season beginning on Sunday, March 30, or Monday, March 31, aim to accommodate the unique schedules of those observing the month of fasting.

The revised toll system introduces new pricing and timing to better serve drivers during Iftar (the evening meal to break the fast) and Suhoor (the pre-dawn meal). This initiative follows the dynamic pricing model coming into effect on January 31, which replaced the flat rate of AED 4 per entry with a flexible fee structure based on traffic conditions.

From 2 AM to 7 AM daily, all 10 Salik toll gates will waive fees entirely, enabling drivers to attend pre-dawn prayers without toll costs. During morning rush hours (7 AM to 9 AM on weekdays), the toll fee will be reduced to AED 4 instead of AED 6, while the peak hours from 9 AM to 5 PM will retain the standard AED 6 fee.

The evening period will see a more relaxed pricing schedule to accommodate Iftar commutes. From 5 PM to 2 AM, drivers will be charged AED 4, offering longer low-fee periods than the rest of the year, when the reduced evening rate applies only between 8 PM and 1 AM.

In addition to the daily changes, Sundays will feature unique pricing. Drivers will pay AED 4 from 7 AM to 2 AM, with tolls waived entirely between 2 AM and 7 AM.

Salik’s Ramadan pricing adjustments aim to ease the stress of commuting during peak times, particularly for those fasting and managing their schedules around Iftar and Suhoor. This reflects Dubai’s commitment to supporting residents during the holy month while maintaining efficient traffic flow.
